The stone makeup of Lastra makes it extremely durable and chip-resistant. In addition, Lastra is oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe, making it perfect for any modern kitchen. Handcrafted in Tuscany, Italy, the VIETRI - Lastra collection is made by the same artists who create VIETRI's Tuscan solid collections. Lastra means "strap" in Italian, so it shouldn't surprise you that Lastra's rustic design was inspired from the overlapping wooden strap that was used to form Parmesan and other Italian cheeses for centuries. The dusting of brown on the edges of Lastra pieces is a reminder of the ash that artisan cheese makers dusted over the cheese to preserve it.
